Chief Accountant (225-1012)

The Chief Accountant plays a pivotal role in the finance department, overseeing accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and assisting in strategic decision-making. This position requires a seasoned professional with a strong grasp of accounting principles, leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex financial processes. The Chief Accountant is responsible for leading a team of accountants, maintaining the integrity of financial records, and ensuring compliance with local and international accounting standards. This role is critical in providing management with accurate and timely financial information, necessary for making informed business decisions. Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
• Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results to senior management.
• Analyze financial data and create forecasts to support long-term business decisions.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
• Lead the quarterly and annual audit process, including managing auditors and ensuring timely completion.
• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance process efficiency.
• Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, and report variances.
• Support in enforcing proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
• Supervise and train junior accountants to ensure accuracy in financial operations.
• Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures for the organization.
• Continuously improve the use of accounting software to streamline operations and reporting.
• Collaborate with the finance team to support overall department goals and objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required.
• Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting with managerial responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including GAAP.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate staff.
• Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills to handle financial challenges.
