Cath Lab Technician

A Cath Lab Technician, also known as a Cardiac Catheterization Technologist, assists in diagnostic and interventional procedures performed in the cardiac catheterization laboratory. They prepare the lab and equipment, monitor patients' vital signs, and assist the cardiologist during procedures. Cath Lab Technicians also operate specialized imaging and monitoring equipment to visualize and measure cardiac structures and blood flow. They ensure patient safety and comfort, maintain accurate records, and maintain the cleanliness and sterility of the lab and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the cardiac catheterization lab and equipment for procedures.
• Review patients' medical history and explain the procedure to them.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and administer medications as directed by the cardiologist.
• Assist the cardiologist during procedures, including passing instruments and catheters.
• Operate specialized imaging and monitoring equipment, such as fluoroscopy and electrocardiography.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the procedure.
• Monitor patients for any signs of complications or adverse reactions.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Clean and sterilize equipment and maintain the cleanliness of the cath lab.

• Certification or associate degree in cardiovascular technology or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Cath Lab Technician.
• Strong knowledge of cardiac catheterization procedures and equipment.
• Familiarity with imaging and monitoring equipment, such as fluoroscopy and electrocardiography.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately and efficiently.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
