Cashier

Dubai British School Jumeirah Park is currently recruiting for a reliable and efficient Cashier to join their outstanding school.

Job Purpose:

The Cashier is responsible for processing student fee collections, maintaining accurate student and family financial records, supporting Accounts Receivable activities, and providing excellent customer service. The role ensures all financial transactions, reconciliations, banking activities, and school collections are completed accurately and in compliance with school policies and internal controls.

Key Accountabilities:

• Create and maintain accurate student and family accounts, ensuring duplicate records are avoided and sibling accounts are linked.
• Raise student invoices and process tuition fees, deposits, refunds, credit notes, and approved account adjustments.
• Process payments through cash, cheque, bank transfer, credit/debit card, online payment gateways, and Noqodi, and issue official receipts.
• Process daily banking transactions, prepare collection reports, and reconcile cash, bank, credit card, and other payment collections.
• Monitor outstanding fees, follow up with parents, respond to finance-related enquiries, and update Admissions on student payment status.
• Maintain records of post-dated cheques, bounced cheques, customer advances, and other payment documentation.
• Assist with petty cash, bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, Accounts Receivable reconciliations, audit requirements, and month-end activities.
• Process and reconcile other income streams, including transport, uniforms, cafeteria, trips, examinations, after-school activities, facility rentals, and other school collections.
• Ensure compliance with school finance policies, internal controls, confidentiality requirements, and perform other duties assigned by the Finance Administrator or Accountant.

Person Specification:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in the related industry-related subject area.

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years' experience in cashiering or accounts receivables, preferably within an educational institution.
• Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office.

Competencies:

• Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.

• Excellent telephone manner.

• Highly organized and ability to work on own initiative and prioritize tasks.

• Experienced in Microsoft packages.

• Good-natured, well-groomed, and courteous.

• Understanding of general reception tasks with excellent customer facing skills.

• A multi-tasker able to support the Management Team with administration.

• Ability to build personal relationships.

• Understand data protection and confidentiality.

• Ability to work to deadlines in a calm and confident manner when under pressure.
