Job Purpose

Established in 1985 as the airfreight division of Emirates, Emirates SkyCargo is the largest international cargo airline in the world! We are looking for supply chain and logistics professionals ready to support Emirates SkyCargo as our organisation continuously increases its cargo capacity and develops specialised products to meet the growing needs of customers.

As a Courier Express System Officer, you will identify, specify and implement, through a process of requirements gathering, analysis and solution definition, business automation solutions using the core platform and related systems across the network and accredited external stakeholders to increase the use and visibility of information, productivity, efficiency and revenue gains. Support the identification of global business system requirements aligned with those of regulatory authorities and industry standards in areas of Reservations, Internet/web technology, Capacity Management, Pricing and other IATA initiatives and develop business IT systems in line with compliance standards. Follow company approved standards of documenting business requirements and support the testing of developed IT solutions and system implementation.

In this role, you will;

  • Follow the approved standard processes of gathering business requirements, analysing and proposing business IT solutions, ensuring all necessary and appropriate documentation pertaining to these requirements is prepared. The same need to be communicated in structured manner through face-to-face meetings to technical Engineers to ensure the desired solution outcomes.
  • Liaise with Standards and Procedures/Compliance department and section heads to ensure solutions designed are aligned to regulatory and industry standards. All agreed solutions needs to be documented in detail and signed off by all business stakeholders.
  • Constantly monitor the development progress of business IT solutions through demo sessions and ensure the development is aligned with the agreed scope of work. The job holder is responsible to escalate to the management any deviations from the agreed scope of work.
  • Compile and document user acceptance test cases based on the agreed scope of any given new functionality, change request, enhancement or bug fix, to ensure that business IT solution developed is as per agreed specification and of high quality. Test cases need to be exhaustive and scope of the test cases need to cover all impacted areas associated with the development. Documentation of test cases need to meet the corporate standards.
  • Facilitate the collation and compilation of the release notes in liaisons with enhancement development owners and IT analyst, ensuring the information is communicated to all users of the core platform system and related system prior to a system promote. Support the implementation of business solutions by providing all necessary documentation to the business stakeholders to achieve maximum returns and benefit of the solutions developed.
  • Analyse issues and concerns raised by business departments pertaining to system faults, document the analysis and desired solutions for these faults in the fault management system (JIRA). Prioritise the fixes of these faults and monitor development of all such fixes constantly engaging with the IT analysis and developers to ensure desired outcomes.
  • Support the audit of network wide usage of automated systems and identify staff, stations that are not using automated systems to its potential and agree development programs and monitor progress, to ensure Emirates SkyCargo gets the return on investment on the various systems implemented. Sometimes due to local practices, off the shelf offerings are not suitable and solutions need to be tailored to provide hybrid systems to cater to local needs. End objective should be to use automation effectively to contain costs and increase revenues.

Qualification

To be considered for this role, you must meet the below;

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering.
  • 5+ years experience in Express Logistics / Cargo.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of API and other technologies such as XML, JSON, EDI, sFTP, etc and platforms such as Magento, Shopify, Wordpress, WooCommerce etc.
  • Computer literate with good analytical ability and inter-personal skills to understand business system requirements and document the same in company approved standards.
  • Communicate end users business requirements in structured functional I.T. terms and specifications to development and technical Engineers.
  • Good presentation skills preferable.
