Provides professional, diligent, efficient, quality, non-clinical support (technical and clerical) for all cardiopulmonary care services, assists cardiopulmonary clinical staff in facilitating supplies, equipment, and other accessories required for patient care and other office supplies required for the department. Delivers non-clinical support to the department team per the technical and clerical objectives of the Chief of the Cardiopulmonary Department, the Assistant Director of Cardiopulmonary, the Senior Respiratory Therapist, and non-clinical staff of the department and following the American Hospital Dubais Cardiopulmonary Clinical Policy and Procedures, the Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
Responsibilities
Quality and Accuracy:
Provides and performs safe and quality technical support and/or assistance for cardiopulmonary and respiratory care services following the policy and procedures established by the American Hospital Dubai and the Cardiopulmonary Department.
Prepares and monitors medical equipment set-up, the availability of accessories and other medical supplies following the safety standards established by Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) and the Department of Health Authority (DHA).
Monitors and audits the pre-use check and calibration requirement of the medical equipment following the safety standards established by the Joint Commission of International Accreditation (JCIA) and the Department of Health Authority (DHA).
Disinfects and cleans all cardiopulmonary medical equipment following the infection control standards established by the Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) and the Department of Health Authority (DHA).
Reports all medical equipment for repair in the Service Requisition Software and maintains the follow-ups to ensure that the equipment is returned safe for patient care use. Required to ask the clinical staff about the message and/or equipment error to report in Service Requisition Software.
Maintains the daily and monthly medical equipment, accessories and the supply requirement of the cardiopulmonary department including the audit for the supply expiration.
Performs the monthly environmental rounds in the Cardiopulmonary Department, reports through Service Requisition Software the environmental-related issues and concerns and ensures that follow-up is completed for the requirement.
Maintains the Supply Room, the Patient Education Room, the Staff Lounge, and the front reception clean and tidy and patient medical files are not exposed to the public.
Disposes all soiled or used "single patient use" medical supplies after each patients test procedure using the medical biohazard bin at bedside and following the Infection Prevention and Control standards and the established clinical policy and procedures of the department.
Performs the assigned monthly inventory of medical supplies, reviews the medical equipment preventive maintenance requirement and respiratory medications, and replenishes all the requirements as applicable.
Performs the daily patient room safety checks, respiratory supply checks and the patient room temperature and humidity checks and review of the Medication refrigerator monitoring following the established American Hospital Dubais Cardiopulmonary clinical policy and procedures.
Maintains the Disinfection room, Soiled Room, and Staff Lounge Room clean and tidy.
Participates and assists the Assistant Director with the Key Performance Improvement projects and Clinical Measures requirement for the respiratory section of the department.
Participates and assists the Assistant Director with the daily end-of-the-shift patient care plan review and clinical events reporting.
Operates, manages, and maintains the safety and functionality of cardiopulmonary and polysomnography medical equipment.
Organizational Skills:
Understands the requirements of daily work schedule, environmental rounds, and additional duties and responsibilities related to the job description.
Prepares all the medical equipment required for daily respiratory care procedures and assists Respiratory Therapists with the daily functional checks and calibration of the equipment before diagnostic test procedures and/or treatment and/or therapies including checking all accessories and supplies.
Understands and complies with the Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) and the Department of Health Authority (DHA) regulatory requirements regarding the safety and availability of medical equipment and supplies within the department.
Assists front desk coverage for Patient Relations Executives during registration and medical billing process (if required) attends to calls forwarded to the department and assists patient care inquiries.
Assists the department in checking and filing monthly environment reports and other Cardiopulmonary staff inventory reports.
Conducts cleaning of medical equipment after each patients utilization, disposes of soiled supplies and/or changes fresh and new respiratory supplies associated and/or attached to this equipment and following the Cardiopulmonary clinical policy and procedures.
Completes disinfection of the Low Flow Oxygen Delivery System and/or oxygen concentrators every after each patients utilization, disposes of the soiled supplies and replaces with a new and clean respiratory supply associated with the machine.
Executes disinfection of the Aerosolize Room, and Oxygen Delivery System every after each patients utilization, and replaces with a new and clean respiratory supply associated with the machines.
Performs disinfection of the Heated High Flow Nasal Cannula System every after each patients utilization and replaces with a new and clean respiratory supply associated with the machine.
Serves supply replacement and/or disposal of Small Volume Nebulizer kits after each patients utilization. Performs disinfection of the non-invasive and/or invasive ventilators every after each patients utilization and replaces with new and clean respiratory supplies associated with the machine.
Completes daily checks of the Cardiopulmonary patient care rooms to ensure cleanliness, tidiness, and availability of supplies necessary for patient care.
Performs daily checks of the ABG Analyzer Machine sensors, cartridges, fluid packs and thermal paper and ensures that all stock is available in the department.
Qualifications
High School Graduate
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two (2) years of clerical and technical experience as a medical assistant in the hospital, clinic and/or warehouse as a store assistant to process equipment inventory, delivery and cleaning requirements and supply availability, inventory, and billing requirements
Knowledgeable of patient care process and patient services of the department. Strong patient advocate and an excellent customer service-oriented individual
Skills in processing equipment and supplies inventory, delivery, sales, patient medical billing and cleaning of medical equipment
Ability to lift or move medical supplies or medical equipment over 20 kilograms
