Job Description

The Cafe Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of a bustling cafe environment. This role requires a dynamic individual with a passion for customer service and a knack for team leadership. The Cafe Manager will oversee the daily operations, ensuring high-quality beverages and food are served promptly, and establishing a warm welcoming atmosphere for all patrons. The ideal candidate will have a blend of managerial skills and hands-on experience in the food and beverage industry. They will be responsible for staff management, inventory oversight, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. An eye for detail, exceptional organizational skills, and a customer-first attitude are essential to succeed and thrive in this role.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily cafe operations to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • Hire, train, and manage a team of baristas and kitchen staff effectively.
  • Ensure high-quality preparation and presentation of all menu items consistently.
  • Maintain inventory levels, ordering supplies as necessary to avoid shortages.
  • Implement and monitor health and safety protocols within the cafe premises.
  • Resolve customer complaints promptly to maintain a high standard of service.
  • Develop marketing strategies to attract new customers and retain existing ones.
  • Manage finances, including budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with vendors to negotiate contracts and purchase orders.
  • Organize staff schedules to optimize productivity while controlling labor costs.
  • Stay updated on industry trends to continually offer competitive menu options.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the cafe to enhance customer experience.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Cafe Manager, Restaurant Manager, or similar role.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a friendly, outgoing attitude.
  • Ability to multitask and handle stressful situations calmly and efficiently.
  • Proficient in using cafe management systems and MS Office applications.
  • Solid understanding of health and safety regulations applicable to cafes.
  • High school diploma; additional certification in hospitality is a plus.
