The Global Projects Centre East is Subsea 7s centre of excellence for the execution of its projects. Within GPC Engineering Function, Design & Analysis Group, "Risers, Installation Analyses and Umbilical" (RIAU) department is currently looking for a Lead Engineer for Middle East Projects to support Power cable procurement follow-up, Power cable configuration design and installation analysis.
The successful candidate will also contribute to the development of discipline through various work on Technology development, Workstream and / or continuous improvements initiatives.
Your Main Responsibilities For This Role Will Be
Coordinate a team of Engineers to meet the required project constraints on required engineering works, optimisation, workload, schedule etc:
Organise a regular meeting with the team and maintain the action register. Issue regular reporting including document progress, resource mobilization planning, manhour tracking, and ensure technical changes with respect to the base scope are tracked properly.
Attend project review meetings, vendor meetings, and engineering meetings organised by other disciplines
Organise and chair the design review (internally within Subsea 7 and externally with Client)
Provide regular reporting to engineering manager regarding MDR/SDR Progress, Status of key registers (e.g. Supplier TQ, Deviation Request etc.), any technical changes from the base case scope.
Manage the Power cable / Umbilical procurement package.
Meet the required project constraints on required engineering works, optimisation, workload, schedule etc.
Understand Client needs and specification to develop Technical Scope of Work for Suppliers along with client documentations.
Interface with SCM/Supplier to evaluate the various proposals for Power cable / Umbilical and associated ancillaries, support the selection of the Supplier through technical bid evaluation.
Plan, detail and review technical documentation (from Subsea 7 and from Supplier) relating to Power Cable / Umbilical, Topside interface, Cross section design, End terminations, Ancillaries, and other associated hardware.
Act as the owner of the supplier documents and ensure supplier documents are reviewed by relevant disciplines, ensure all the internal comments are discussed with the reviewers, and consolidate the comments for further discussions with the supplier.
Identify and manage the required project interface (e.g. Contractors, Client, PEM, Package manager, Suppliers, SCM, QC, HSE etc.) to ensure progress and compliance of the supplier scope.
Ensure selected design / proposal is in accordance with industry Codes, Standards and Design Guides (e.g. API, DnV, ISO); Client Specifications, Scopes of Work, and Subsea 7 internal standard (BMS).
Actively follow-up project planning with SCM and QC Function related to design activities, manufacturing, testing by suppliers. Ad-hoc mission to supplier premise may be required.
Provide engineering assistance during mobilizations, FATs, SITs, Pre-commissioning etc.
Cable / Umbilical Installation analysis background and knowledge is good to have.
Support various Workstream and continuous improvements initiatives such as:
Develop internal tools, guidelines, templates and training material
Encourage knowledge sharing within the discipline.
Support trainees and less experienced engineers
To adapt to workload, you shall support Oil and gas SURF Projects / Tenders / FEED on Cable/ umbilical procurement package when required.

Qualifications And Requirements
Ability to participate in the interfaces within a project structure, including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, client and suppliers.
Demonstrable ability to work within time/budget constraints.
Commitment to Continuing Professional Development.
Ability to guide and Mentor graduates and junior engineers.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Civil / Electrical engineering.
12 years of relevant experience in similar Cable/Umbilical package management in the offshore industry.
3 years of experience in Leading Cable/Umbilical package management preferably in Saudi and Qatar projects.
In-depth knowledge of Saudi Aramco standards (SAES, SAEP), industry codes, and engineering best practices for procurement and relevant documentation.
Proactively undertake responsibility for production of deliverables, which may include design calculations, specifications, procedures, progress reports, engineering support to drafting office, and various 3rd-party submissions.
Knowledge on installation, on-bottom stability, routing, crossing etc
Experience of working in a multi-disciplined system engineering team
Ability in working in multicultural group.
Ability in Vendor and 3rd Party interface.
Orca flex In-Place / Installation Analysis is a plus.
Offshore Installation Experience is a plus.
Flexible System Design is a plus.
Subsea controls systems and instrumentation is a plus.
