Basic Function
The role has Marketing and Commercial oversight for managing offtake volumes from BIT’s multiple supply sources with a focus on maximizing value delivered. The role also has Asset and JV Relationship Management responsibilities focused on maximizing the short and long term value creation for the JVs. The position works closely with multiple internal and external stakeholders to execute business strategies; while also managing and directing the communication between the multidisciplinary interfaces to ensure good alignment and seamless coordination of interdependencies. It is the primary interface between the supply sources and sales, while also balancing the needs of the JV partners with those of LYB. As LYBs JV footprint continues to grow, the role will continue to be critical in ensuring that agreements with JV partners properly represent LYBs interests.
Success in the role would mean effectively managing a team of Marketing / Asset Managers and Analysts to deliver on business unit goals; while also driving effective collaboration and engagement within and between internal and external stakeholders with a focus on maximizing business value.
Roles & Responsibilities
Drive GoalZERO HSE performance and behaviors through active engagement and employee involvement aligned with corporate standards and expectations. Administering business controls including risk management, compliance and audits is also a key responsibility of the role.
Understands the long-term strategic vision for the organization and JV Partners, and leads efforts to work with key stakeholders to translate, develop and integrate these into business plans / goals. Has accountability for driving business performance to meet the established business plans / goals.
Understands competitive and global market trends / pricing dynamics, as well as broad market and industry needs; and facilitates the group’s interaction with other functional organizations and JV partners to frame these into value added opportunities.
Leads the team to develop and implement Marketing and JV Asset Strategies to ensure that the assets are positioned to capture optimum value in the markets served.
Owns price file management and works with the JVs and other partners to set, manage and communicate prices to stakeholders with the intention of maximizing netbacks.
Ownership for JV price reconciliation is also a key responsibility of the role.
Understands financial analysis and uses this as the basis to establish and drive the standardization and implementation of protocols, systems, tools and processes to effectively manage business KPIs aimed at outperforming Industry benchmarks / JV Marketers while driving commercial excellence.
Responsible for managing JV relationships while ensuring that engagement protocols including Steering Team and performance review meetings continue to be effective frameworks for driving alignment and collaboration between LYB and JV Partners.
Drive and support cross regional alignment between other regional Business Units to optimize export flow between regions while advocating regional collaboration to maximize value creation for the broader LYB organization and global customers. Positioning the Middle East as a key supply source for other regional Businesses including Europe is an added focus of the role.
Responsible for leading the Value Enhancement Program (VEP) for the region in line with Corporate requirements, commitments and guidelines.
Education & Experience
The position requires a University / College degree in engineering, business or finance.
The position requires at least 15 years of experience in the petrochemical industry in roles including Commercial, Technical, Manufacturing and/or Engineering. A good understanding of polyolefins products and applications is a plus.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine correspondence effectively and to speak fluently with internal and external stakeholders and JV Partners.
In addition, strong leadership, strategic thinking, managerial courage, systemic thinking, communication, planning, problem solving, project management, results orientation and decision making skills; with sound business judgement are essential for this position. The ability to work with cross functional teams with a focus on alignment and collaboration is a critical requirement in this role. There is some travel associated with the position.
