About The Role

The Staff Business Analyst role at PlayStation is a senior individual contributor position focused on shaping the future of the company’s Direct-to-Consumer businesses, including the PlayStation Store and PlayStation Direct. Based in San Mateo, CA, with remote considerations for the West Coast, this role involves translating complex commercial opportunities into clear business requirements and actionable insights. The analyst will work closely with cross-functional teams such as product management, engineering, data science, and business strategy to ensure that new product features and initiatives align with business goals. This position emphasizes decision quality, experimentation, and commercial impact, requiring the candidate to influence senior stakeholders through structured analysis, financial reasoning, and data-driven recommendations. The role does not involve product ownership, feature backlog management, or delivery management but focuses on high-level analysis and strategic collaboration to drive business growth and operational efficiencies.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Business Analysis within digital commerce, subscriptions, or retail sectors
  • Proven ability to decompose vague business problems into structured analytical questions and clear requirements
  • Experience partnering with product, engineering, and data science teams to design and implement solutions
  • Strong financial and data-driven reasoning skills to challenge assumptions and build credible arguments
  • Expertise in mapping complex business processes and guiding process improvement and automation initiatives
  • Deep familiarity with working alongside AI/ML teams, including defining requirements and evaluating model limitations
  • Understanding of experimentation, measurement, and ROI analysis in a commercial context
  • Excellent executive-level communication skills, capable of explaining complex concepts clearly and persuasively
  • Knowledge of personalization, decision automation, and next best action frameworks (preferred)
  • Familiarity with AI governance, ethics, and responsible data practices (preferred)
  • Experience operating in global, cross-functional environments (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex business analysis for high-impact AI/ML initiatives across digital commerce, personalization, subscriptions, and publishing operations
  • Translate broad commercial objectives into detailed, measurable business requirements
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and data science teams to ensure alignment of product features with business needs
  • Influence senior stakeholders through structured problem framing, financial analysis, and data-informed recommendations
  • Partner with analytics teams to define, execute, and evaluate experiments aimed at personalization, revenue growth, and operational efficiencies
  • Map and analyze existing business processes, guiding the organization through process improvement and automation projects
  • Mentor team members in AI/ML business analysis methodologies and promote responsible data practices
  • Champion continuous learning and knowledge sharing across teams to foster innovation and best practices
