    • Technical competencies in structural analysis and design with concrete, steel, and composite materials.
    • Familiar with different bridge types and their components.
    • Load analysis using design standards i.e., AASHTO.
    • Application of hydraulics, seismic, and bridge dynamics principles.
    • Advanced knowledge in engineering design and analysis software.
    • Familiarity with international building codes, environmental regulations, safety engineering, and risk management

    • Responsibilities / Authorities / Accountabilities

    • Primary Functions
    • Perform analysis of structural forces, stresses, and loads to ensure bridges are safe and meet safety standards.
    • Review structural calculations and use computer software to model bridges and test different design options.
    • Inspect construction sites regularly to verify work quality matches the design plans and resolves issues that arise.
    • Assess the condition and safety of existing bridges by identifying damage, corrosion, and structural problems.
    • Prepare comprehensive technical reports.
    • Attend meetings and discussion with client and authority.

    • Technical Expertise
    • Possess deep understanding of mathematics, physics, and mechanics.
    • Knowledgeable in forces moving through different bridge types and can calculate stresses and strains.
    • Understand concrete and steel properties, including strength, durability, and corrosion protection.
    • Understand soil mechanics and foundation design for stable bridge support.
    • Know-how in hydraulics, seismic, wind, and temperature effects on bridges.
    • Competencies in bridge construction i.e. sequences, phasing, launching, and segmental construction techniques.
    • Capable of carrying out technical investigation methods.
    • Proficient in AutoCAD, SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD, Revit, Finite Element modeling, statistical analysis tools, etc.

  • Participates in execution of the missions, alone or within a project team
  • Liaises with client, designer and/or project manager
  • Manages (if required) design review phase of the project, as per scope of work and Bureau Veritas/client quality system

    • HSE Requirements

  • Authorized to stop work if condition, situation, environment, etc. is not safe to perform the activity (immediately inform the reporting person in the department for further guidance).
  • Always comply with all applicable legal requirements, BV Dubai HSE Policies and procedures, client’s HSE procedures and practices.
  • Accountable to take care of your own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by what you do or not do.
  • Accountable for cooperating with others in health and safety, and not interfering with or misusing anything provided for your health, safety or welfare.
  • Perform his duties in a safe environment and respond to emergency situations as required by local procedures.
  • Maintain personal work areas tidy and hazard free and report any deviation/fault/hazard immediately to the location manager/line manager/QHSE Manager.
  • Reporting all incidents / Near miss reporting as well as acting whenever any unsafe act of condition is observed.
  • Responsible for giving feedback on HSE issues for improvement as participation and consultation requirement.
  • Report immediately any newly identified hazard and participate in devising suitable operational control to eliminate/minimize risks.
  • Report immediately any HSE incident and cooperate in investigation.
  • Use appropriate PPE in the work area and be aware of:
    • the risks appropriate PPE will control or minimize
    • Report immediately in case the PPE is worn off or lost.
  • Ensure project team receive health and safety induction training.
  • Ensure project team is aware of applicable HSE policies and procedures of the client and respective project.
  • Perform routine inspection to check team’s adherence to the clients’ HSE procedures.
  • Ensure on an ongoing basis, the project team receive health and safety training which is appropriate to their job.
  • Ensure the project team are aware of their health and safety responsibilities and duties.
  • Ensure the project team can carry out their duties in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Promote the identification of opportunities to improve the health & safety of employees during their work activities.
  • Promote the identification of initiatives to improve employee environmental awareness and reduction of environmental impacts.
  • Carry out regular tours of their work areas to monitor general health, safety and welfare arrangements.
  • To ensure that any personal protective equipment, (PPE) that employees are required to use in their job:
    • have been appropriately assessed before use
    • is fit for purpose
    • provides adequate protection
    • is appropriately maintained and inspected.
