Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified Senior Specialist in Brain Injury Medicine to join our private healthcare facility. The successful candidate will provide specialized assessment, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term management for patients with traumatic and acquired brain injuries.
The role involves working closely with neurologists, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation physicians, neuropsychologists, therapists, nurses, and other multidisciplinary professionals to develop individualized treatment plans and optimize functional, cognitive, behavioral, and psychosocial outcomes.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical expertise in brain injury management, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of patients with traumatic and acquired brain injuries.
Diagnose and manage complex neurological, cognitive, behavioral, physical, and functional consequences of brain injury.
Develop individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans based on each patients clinical and functional needs.
Provide ongoing medical management and follow-up throughout the patients recovery and rehabilitation journey.
Assess patients following traumatic brain injury, stroke, hypoxic/anoxic brain injury, and other acquired brain injuries.
Monitor neurological, cognitive, behavioral, and functional progress and modify treatment plans as required.
Collaborate with neurologists, neurosurgeons, physiatrists, neuropsychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, nurses, and other specialists.
Provide guidance and education to patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and rehabilitation.
Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and care planning.
Supervise and support junior medical staff and contribute to clinical education.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records and clinical documentation.
Participate in quality improvement, clinical audit, research, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
Ensure compliance with facility policies, professional standards, patient safety requirements, and applicable healthcare regulations.
Medical Degree (MD, MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent) from a recognized and accredited medical school.
Recognized postgraduate specialist qualification in Neurology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R), Rehabilitation Medicine, Psychiatry, or another relevant specialty.
Advanced training, fellowship, or substantial clinical experience in Brain Injury Medicine, Traumatic Brain Injury, Acquired Brain Injury, or Neurorehabilitation.
Brain Injury Medicine subspecialty certification is highly preferred, particularly certification through the ABPMR/ABPN where applicable.
AMERICAN BOARD doctors preferred.
Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialization clinical experience, preferably in a tertiary hospital, rehabilitation center, or specialized brain injury program.
Demonstrated experience in the assessment and management of traumatic and acquired brain injuries.
Strong understanding of neurological, cognitive, behavioral, psychological, and functional consequences of brain injury.
Experience developing and coordinating multidisciplinary rehabilitation programs.
Current BLS certification; ACLS certification is an advantage.
Excellent clinical decision-making, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary clinical team.
Commitment to patient safety, clinical excellence, ethical practice, and evidence-based medicine.
Fluency in English; Arabic or other languages is an advantage.
