Job Description

As a Billing Associate in the healthcare sector, you will play a critical role in ensuring that medical billing processes are seamless, accurate, and efficient. You will be responsible for handling patient billing inquiries, processing insurance claims, and performing follow-ups on any unpaid bills. Your expertise will contribute significantly to the healthcare facility's revenue cycle, enabling them to provide continuous and improved healthcare services. This position requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. You will work closely with other departments to ensure that all billing data is accurate and up-to-date, and that any discrepancies are resolved swiftly.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims for healthcare services rendered.
  • Follow up with insurance companies on unresolved or unpaid insurance claims.
  • Ensure accurate patient information is maintained in healthcare billing systems.
  • Communicate with patients about their billing inquiries and resolve any issues.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to verify patient billing and coding accuracy.
  • Review and audit billing records to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Handle incoming calls from patients regarding billing and insurance queries.
  • Update billing information promptly when there are changes to patient data.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements and set up payment plans for patients.
  • Collaborate with the accounting department for month-end financial reconciliation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection regulations in all billing activities.
  • Generate reports on billing activities and outstanding accounts as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years experience in healthcare billing or similar roles.
  • Proficient in using billing and coding systems in a healthcare environment.
  • Strong knowledge of medical insurance procedures and terminology.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills to interact with patients.
  • Ability to work independently and handle sensitive information responsibly.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
