Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Developer specializing in Shopify and eCommerce integrations to support the development, integration, and ongoing optimization of our global commerce ecosystem. This role is responsible for building scalable backend services, maintaining critical integrations across platforms (ERP, CRM, payments, marketing, and fulfillment), and enabling complex campaign and merchandising capabilities.

The ideal candidate combines strong backend engineering expertise with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performing commerce solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Backend Platform Development & Integrations

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services supporting Shopify and related commerce systems
• Build and maintain integrations between Shopify and enterprise systems such as ERP, OMS, CRM, marketing automation platforms, payment gateways, and logistics providers
• Develop and manage APIs, middleware services, and event-driven workflows to ensure reliable data exchange across systems
• Ensure system scalability, performance, and reliability across global markets and high-traffic campaign periods
  
  

• Implement backend logic supporting promotions, bundles, discount engines, Gift With Purchase (GWP), and custom campaign mechanics
• Develop Shopify Functions, Scripts, or middleware-based logic supporting advanced promotional eligibility and pricing workflows
• Support backend configurations for regional promotions, multi-market pricing, and checkout customization features
• Collaborate with front-end teams to ensure seamless integration between UI merchandising components and backend logic
  
  

• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance optimizations across integrations and backend services
• Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting processes to ensure system reliability and rapid issue resolution
• Ensure data accuracy and consistency across transactional systems, customer platforms, and reporting pipelines
• Support high-availability architecture for major campaign and peak traffic periods
  
  

• Translate technical requirements into backend architecture and implementation plans
• Estimate development effort and manage assigned delivery tasks through sprint cycles from design through deployment
• Proactively identify technical risks, system dependencies, and integration challenges, proposing scalable solutions
• Participate in release planning, deployment validation, and post-release monitoring
  
  

• Conduct comprehensive backend QA validation for all releases, integrations, and promotional logic prior to deployment
• Validate promotion logic, pricing rules, discount eligibility, GWP mechanics, and checkout workflows to ensure accuracy across markets and customer segments
• Support end-to-end UAT testing across integrations including ERP, OMS, CRM, payment providers, fulfillment systems, and marketing platforms
• Monitor production deployments and campaign launches, ensuring system stability and rapid resolution of integration or data-flow issues
• Maintain automated or manual release readiness validation processes for high-traffic campaigns, product launches, and seasonal activations
• Develop and maintain integration testing frameworks, regression testing protocols, and monitoring alerts to reduce launch risk and ensure data accuracy
  
  

• Work closely with Product, Front-End Engineering, Analytics, Marketing, and Integration teams to deliver end-to-end commerce initiatives
• Collaborate with solution architects, vendors, and agency partners to ensure integration alignment and delivery quality
• Provide technical documentation and architectural guidance supporting internal teams and future scalability
  
  

• 5-8+ years of backend development experience, preferably within eCommerce or high-scale digital platforms
• Strong experience working with Shopify APIs, Shopify Functions, or commerce platform integrations
• Proficiency in backend technologies such as Node.js, Python, Java, or similar backend frameworks
• Strong experience designing and maintaining RESTful APIs, microservices, and middleware architectures
• Experience integrating enterprise platforms such as ERP, CRM, payment providers, or fulfillment systems
• Experience working in agile development environments with sprint-based delivery processes
• Strong debugging, performance tuning, and system monitoring capabilities
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex system dependencies
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams
