Job Description:

The Audio Visual Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and specifying AV systems that meet client requirements. The role involves technical planning, system design, documentation and coordination with internal teams, contractors and clients on site to ensure seamless integration and delivery of AV solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design integrated AV systems including video conferencing, audio systems, control systems, displays, and structured cabling.
• Produce technical drawings, signal flow diagrams, rack layouts, and cable schedules using AV software.
• Collaborate with Project Managers & Sales teams to ensure designs are practical and within budget. 
• Interface with manufacturers and vendors to select appropriate AV equipment and solutions.
• Support installation teams with design clarifications, technical documentation and troubleshooting.
• Perform quality control on AV system installations and participate in system commissioning and client handover.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, new technologies and AV standards.
• When applicable, accompanies salesperson in performing site visit and detailed needs analysis with the customer.
• Review work of third-party audio/video install teams to ensure compliance with company standards
• Review and Assist in the design and implementation of video systems on site.
• Develop and provide sales with a complete bill of materials (BOM) based on the agreed SOF. This BOM will include components, hardware, and prefabricated cables to complete the system. An estimated bulk cable and installation hardware cost will also be included. All documents saved to NetSuite. Projects are estimated when quoted and fully engineered upon award.
• Once project is won, AV Design Engineer will approve the rough signal flow diagram and release to the CAD team for construction drawings.
• Develop a Technical Scope of Work that will be used internally facing for our field operations teams.
• Reviews the SOF and BOM with PM for post award processing.
• Coordinates documentation for any changes to the BOM based on site conditions and follow-up conversations with PM.
• Meet with vendors/prospective vendors to help evaluate product if requested.
• Assist other departments with technical support issues as needed.

Key Requirements:

• 5+ years’ experience in AV system design and integration.
• Proven & certified experience in the following brands (not limited to): Crestron, Poly, Humbly, Cisco, Lightware, Extron, Logitech, Shure, Biamp, Bose, L’Acoustic, OneLan, Condeco, Yealink, Samsung, LG, Prysm Systems, Epson, Arthur Holms, Barco, Absen, Jabra, Legrand, Maxhub, Microsoft, Sharp/NEC, BanQ, Chief, Denon, DTEN, Huddly, Kramer Electronics, Mersive, Neat, Sennheiser, Vaddio.
• Proficiency with AV design software.
• Strong understanding of network infrastructure and protocols relevant to AV systems.
• Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
• Perform appearance and preventive maintenance visits to conference rooms (VC connections, wires, peripherals, speakers).
• Ability to think and work independently and meet necessary deadlines.
• Attention to detail.
• Problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
• Proficient in MS Office, MS Excel, and general PC based applications.
• Ability to read construction drawings and system wiring diagrams.
• Ability to diagnose complex system problems.
• Occasional after hours and / or travel may be required.
