Job Description

An Automotive Service Advisor acts as the essential bridge between the customer and the service team within an automotive repair and maintenance facility. Serving with a focus on customer satisfaction, the advisor is responsible for understanding the specific needs of vehicle owners, delivering accurate service advice, and ensuring that services are executed in a timely and cost-effective manner. The role requires a combination of excellent communication skills, technical knowledge of automobile systems, and an ability to guide customers through various service processes confidently and professionally. This position also involves managing service schedules, handling customer inquiries, and maintaining comprehensive records of service transactions and repairs.


Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with customers to identify and understand their automotive repair needs.
  • Provide accurate estimates for service and repairs, including parts and labor costs.
  • Coordinate with the service team to ensure timely and efficient vehicle servicing.
  • Maintain updated and organized records of service transactions and customer interactions.
  • Ensure all vehicle service reports are comprehensible and relay any necessary additional maintenance needs.
  • Manage service appointments and follow up with customers for feedback and satisfaction assurance.
  • Upsell additional services and repairs by explaining benefits and necessity to customers.
  • Resolve customer complaints in a professional manner, ensuring high satisfaction levels.
  • Continuously stay updated with industry knowledge to provide the best advice to customers.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards and legal regulations in service operations.
  • Collaborate with parts department to ensure availability and timely procurement of parts needed.
  • Prepare and present service reports to management detailing service efficiency and customer feedback.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional automotive education is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a service advisory or customer-facing role in automotive.
  • Strong understanding of automotive technology and ability to learn about new models.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with customers.
  • Proficient in using computer software for service management and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on customer satisfaction and retention.
