Job Description

The Automotive Service Advisor is a vital link between the customer and the service department, ensuring that vehicle issues are accurately diagnosed and appropriately addressed. This role requires an individual who can effectively communicate with both customers and technicians, providing a seamless service experience. As an Automotive Service Advisor, you will be responsible for creating an atmosphere of trust, managing vehicle repair timelines, and ensuring that clients are kept informed about their service status. The ideal candidate will possess a keen understanding of automotive systems, a customer-focused attitude, and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment. By effectively managing repair orders and promoting the service offerings of the dealership or service center, you will contribute to the overarching goals of customer satisfaction and business development.


Responsibilities

  • Greet customers professionally and ensure their service needs are accurately documented.
  • Consult with vehicle technicians to communicate customer concerns and ensure issues are understood.
  • Provide customers with a detailed explanation of work performed and any additional recommendations.
  • Prepare and process repair orders and invoices accurately, ensuring clarity for both technicians and customers.
  • Maintain a high level of product knowledge to answer customer inquiries effectively.
  • Schedule service appointments efficiently, considering technician availability and customer convenience.
  • Communicate delays or additional repairs to customers promptly, minimizing customer dissatisfaction.
  • Follow up with customers post-service to ensure their expectations are met and issues resolved.
  • Collaborate with parts departments to ensure necessary parts are available for services scheduled.
  • Actively promote service specials and relevant service offerings to increase department revenue.
  • Ensure customer vehicles are returned in the same condition they were received, clean and intact.
  • Manage warranty repairs efficiently, ensuring proper documentation and parts handling.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; post-secondary automotive education is preferred.
  • Previous experience in an automotive service environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive systems and repair processes is a must.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with customers and staff.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple service orders and workflow efficiently.
  • Proficiency with automotive service software and general computer applications.
