Job Description

An Automobile Service Adviser serves as the vital communication link between customers and the automotive repair shop. They are responsible for understanding and assessing the customer's vehicle concerns, communicating these to the mechanics, and providing cost estimates while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. The role requires excellent problem-solving skills, a keen attention to detail, and a deep understanding of vehicle systems. The Service Adviser must manage repair schedules efficiently, ensuring service technicians fully grasp the task requirements. In addition, they must follow up on customer feedback and ensure that any complaints are resolved in a timely manner. A successful Service Adviser combines technical knowledge with exceptional customer service skills to deliver a seamless and satisfying service experience.


Responsibilities

  • Greet customers promptly with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Listen to customers' vehicle concerns and document all necessary information.
  • Liaise between customers and technicians to ensure understanding of required service.
  • Provide detailed repair cost estimates and time frames to clients.
  • Explain vehicle issues and necessary repairs in a way customers can understand.
  • Schedule service appointments efficiently to maximize technician productivity.
  • Monitor repair progress and communicate updates with customers as needed.
  • Handle customer inquiries and complaints, ensuring prompt resolution.
  • Maintain service records and customer contact information accurately.
  • Assist in ordering vehicle parts and managing inventory for services.
  • Follow up on customer feedback to improve service strategies continually.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in automotive technology is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive systems, repairs, and industry terminology.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make quick decisions.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and automotive software applications.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 pounds if needed.
