An AutoCAD Technician plays a critical role in the design and drafting processes, utilizing their expertise in AutoCAD software to create accurate, detailed technical drawings and plans. Often working under the guidance of engineers, architects, and project managers, AutoCAD Technicians are responsible for transforming conceptual designs into tangible blueprints that guide the construction of buildings, machinery, and systems. They need to be detail-oriented, possess strong spatial awareness and analytical skills, and understand engineering and design principles. Additionally, they must be proficient in various drafting techniques and stay updated with the latest AutoCAD functionalities and industry standards in order to maintain the quality and accuracy of their work.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise detailed technical drawings using AutoCAD software and other drafting tools.
• Work closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to interpret project specifications.
• Develop schematic and detailed design layouts based on design brief and technical inputs.
• Ensure all designs are compliant with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining a high level of accuracy and detail.
• Update and maintain project drawing files, ensuring all revisions are documented accurately.
• Work collaboratively within a team environment to ensure design requirements are met.
• Prepare 2D and 3D models for client presentations and project assessments.
• Perform site visits or fieldwork to collect or verify data for drawing accuracy.
• Participate in project meetings, providing technical support and drawing insights as required.
• Assist in training junior staff members or interns on AutoCAD best practices.
• Constantly research and implement best practices in AutoCAD to enhance productivity.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an AutoCAD Technician or in a similar drafting role.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant CAD software is essential.
• Strong understanding of engineering, architectural, or mechanical design principles.
• Excellent spatial awareness and attention to detail in all drawings.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with project teams.
• Relevant certification or diploma in CAD Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently and effectively.
