Job Description

An Assistant Shopkeeper plays a vital role in the daily operations of a retail environment, working closely with the shopkeeper to ensure that the store runs smoothly. This position involves a blend of customer service, inventory management, and sales skills. An ideal candidate is someone enthusiastic, organized, and capable of multitasking in a dynamic retail setting. As an Assistant Shopkeeper, you will be the point of contact for customers, ensuring they receive excellent service, and you will be heavily involved in maintaining the aesthetic and operational excellence of the store. This role requires someone who is proactive and able to work independently, yet also thrives in a team environment. You will be expected to assist with merchandising, handle financial transactions, and aid in the resolution of any customer issues, thereby enhancing the overall shopping experience.


Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist customers with a friendly and welcoming attitude.
  • Maintain a clean and organized sales floor and inventory storage.
  • Assist in managing the shop’s inventory, including stock checks and restocking.
  • Process customer transactions accurately using the store’s point-of-sale system.
  • Support the shopkeeper in daily opening and closing procedures.
  • Direct and assist customers in finding products within the store.
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints efficiently and professionally.
  • Update product displays and signage to keep the store visually appealing.
  • Participate in store promotion initiatives and special sale events.
  • Monitor store for security issues and report any suspicious activities.
  • Assist with receiving and unpacking deliveries to the store.
  • Provide feedback to the shopkeeper about customer preferences and sales trends.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification is required.
  • Previous experience in retail or a customer service role is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with customers.
  • Basic math skills for handling cash and making change accurately.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
