Job Summary

The Assistant Relationship Manager (ARM) plays a crucial role within our financial services team by providing direct and proactive sales support to the Senior Banker/Banker, specifically servicing Financial Sponsors clients. This role requires a partnership approach to jointly drive client revenues and profitability, contributing to the sustainable growth of our business portfolio.

Key strategic responsibilities include supporting new business origination through diligent client research and preparation of detailed pitch books, as well as industry and competitor analysis. The ARM ensures seamless coordination across network and product teams to prepare materials that are not only client-centric but also competitive within the market landscape. Post-origination, the ARM is responsible for accurate reporting and timely documentation to sustain strong client relationships and enable informed decision-making.

On the business front, the ARM is entrusted with the hands-on execution of sales discipline processes, including account planning, pipeline management, and maintaining comprehensive client call reports. Supporting the Senior Banker/Banker with deal execution is also paramount, involving contract negotiation, client escalations, and collaboration with the Client Management team to deliver flawless transaction completion.

The incumbent will manage client portfolios proactively by engaging with clients and product partners to maximize limit utilisation and ensure sustained profitability. This vital role demands strong analytical skills, excellent stakeholder management, and a keen understanding of our clients’ industries and business outlooks.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for the following key duties:

  • Preparing and executing client meetings, including managing logistical arrangements when attending meetings alongside the Banker, ensuring the process is smooth and client-focused.
  • Providing comprehensive support for new business transactions, encompassing deal execution assistance, document negotiation, and effective coordination with Product Sales and Client Management teams to facilitate deal drawdowns.
  • Taking ownership of portfolio management with regular engagement of clients and product partners to ensure optimal utilization of credit limits and to identify opportunities for cross-selling and risk optimisation.

In Terms Of Process Management

  • Supporting the Senior Banker/Banker in the formulation and execution of the Client Account Plan and overall client strategy through active participation in account planning sessions, including taking minutes at strategic deep-dive meetings.
  • Collaborating closely with product partners to maximize cross-selling opportunities and returns on risk-weighted assets while ensuring all team members are aligned and informed regarding client strategies.
  • Engaging in client conversations alongside the Banker to understand and address client needs, offering insights on account strategy, transactional opportunities, and pricing considerations.
  • Maintaining confidentiality by diligently managing sensitive deal information and contributing to a culture of trust and integrity within deal teams.

  • Conduct Management: Uphold the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct in all dealings, reflecting the banks commitment to integrity and compliance.
  • Risk Management and Internal Controls: Exhibit strong understanding of internal controls and risk mitigation strategies to protect client and bank interests.
  • Strategic Business Acumen: Apply insights about business models, market dynamics, and competitive landscapes to support sound decision-making and client solutions.
  • Product and Process Knowledge: Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of banking products, services, and processes to provide accurate and timely client support.
  • Business Partnering: Foster effective collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive cross-functional initiatives and growth.
  • Credit Risk Evaluation: Possess familiarity with Commercial and Industrial (C&I) credit risk principles to assist in credit evaluations and client risk assessments.
  • Relationship Management Skills: Build and maintain trusted client relationships by understanding client needs and delivering value-added support.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient with relevant information systems, applications, and standard office productivity tools to enhance work efficiency.

Qualifications

Educational Background: A Bachelors degree in Banking, Economics, Finance, or Accounting is preferred, providing a strong foundational understanding of financial principles and industry knowledge.

Professional Experience: Ideally, candidates with experience within the banking sector, demonstrating proven expertise in client management, sales support, or related financial roles.

Certifications and Training: Candidates should have completed relevant Credit Risk training and hold certifications in Risk and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) as stipulated by bank policy, ensuring compliance and risk awareness.

Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is essential, with additional local language skills considered an asset depending on specific country requirements.
