Job Description

The Assistant Operations Manager – Transport will play a key role in supporting the overall operations and logistics of the transportation department. This individual will work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure smooth, timely, and efficient transport services. The role is essential in maintaining effective coordination between various departments and driving initiatives for continuous improvement in transport operations. With a focus on enhancing service delivery and optimizing resources, the Assistant Operations Manager will be instrumental in achieving operational goals and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to perform under pressure, enabling the company to provide exceptional transportation services.


Responsibilities

  • Assist the Operations Manager in overseeing day-to-day transportation activities and processes.
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations of all transport functions.
  • Supervise transport staff and provide guidance to improve performance and achieve goals.
  • Monitor and analyze transportation operations to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all transport regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Liaise with clients to understand their needs and maintain high customer satisfaction levels.
  • Manage scheduling of drivers and vehicles to optimize utilization and reduce costs.
  • Prepare and maintain transportation documentation and reports for management review.
  • Conduct regular audits of transport operations to ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Oversee inventory management and ensure adequate supply of transport-related resources.
  • Analyze and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Support the development and execution of transport strategies and operational plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation or logistics operations.
  • Strong understanding of transport regulations and industry best practices.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with a proactive approach.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using transportation management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
