Job Description

The position of Assistant Nurse in the OPD (Outpatient Department) Ob Gyne unit is crucial for delivering excellent patient care. This role requires a compassionate and detail-oriented nurse to assist in the daily operations of the OB/GYN outpatient service. The Assistant Nurse will support physicians and senior nurses in providing top-notch medical care and ensure the comfort and well-being of patients. The candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients and their families effectively, maintaining a calm and reassuring presence. An understanding of women's health issues, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.


Responsibilities

  • Assist senior nurses and doctors in the assessment and triage of patients.
  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure availability of necessary medical supplies.
  • Measure and record patients' vital signs and medical histories accurately.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and families during clinical procedures.
  • Educate patients on post-procedure care and medication instructions clearly.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all patient health information diligently.
  • Assist in scheduling appointments and managing patient flow efficiently.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement patient care plans effectively.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as updating medical records and filing reports.
  • Participate in department meetings and continuous education activities actively.
  • Conduct pre-operative preparations and assist in minor surgical procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control practices and workplace safety standards.

Requirements

  • Diploma or associate degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Valid nursing license in the state or region of employment.
  • At least one year of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory for this position.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
  • Strong ability to multitask and manage time efficiently in a busy environment.
  • Empathy and compassion, with a commitment to providing patient-centered care.
