Job Description

The Assistant Nurse – OPD Ob Gyne plays a crucial role in providing exceptional medical care and support within the outpatient department, focusing specifically on obstetrics and gynecology. This position requires a compassionate and attentive caregiver who is skilled in handling sensitive health issues related to women's health. As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Assistant Nurse is responsible for ensuring patient comfort, assisting with procedures, and maintaining accurate medical records. Responsibilities

  • Assist doctors during outpatient procedures in the obstetrics and gynecology department.
  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary equipment is available and functioning.
  • Monitor patients' conditions and report any significant changes to the attending physician.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by supervising healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic environment to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
  • Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families concerning medical procedures.
  • Record and document patients' medical histories and maintain accurate and confidential records.
  • Coordinate with other departments to facilitate patient referrals and follow-up appointments.
  • Ensure supply inventory is maintained and assist with ordering new supplies as needed.
  • Educate patients on healthcare management procedures, including pre- and post-operative care.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to improve patient care protocols and processes.
  • Adhere to medical protocols and hospital policies while delivering patient care.

Requirements

  • Hold a nursing diploma or a related healthcare qualification from an accredited institution.
  • Possess a valid nursing license recognized within the region of employment.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in an obstetrics/gynecology setting.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients and staff.
  • Ability to perform duties with compassion, efficiency, and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with medical software and basic computer operations for record-keeping.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
