Job Description

An Assistant Accountant plays a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of a company. By assisting senior accountants, they help to ensure that financial records are maintained accurately and that transactions are processed efficiently. They are responsible for a variety of tasks, including managing invoices, preparing financial reports, and maintaining ledgers. As an Assistant Accountant, you will work closely with other team members, providing essential support to maintain the financial health of the organization. Demonstrating a strong attention to detail and familiarity with accounting principles, you will contribute to financial audits and report discrepancies effectively. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and organizational skills, with a commitment to continuous learning and adherence to ethical guidelines.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and management accounts regularly.
  • Process and manage accounts payable and receivable efficiently and accurately.
  • Record and update financial transactions in the accounting software promptly.
  • Conduct periodic reconciliations of banking transactions to accounting records.
  • Maintain and update the general ledger with accurate financial data entries.
  • Support in preparing documentation and data for financial audits and reviews.
  • Assist with budgeting processes, forecasts, and variance analysis reports.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, regulations, and legislation consistently.
  • Review and verify the accuracy of invoices and other financial documents.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to obtain necessary financial information.
  • Generate financial statements and assist with month-end and year-end closing.
  • Provide support in financial research projects and data analysis activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is essential.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks or SAP is required.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary.
  • Prior experience in an accounting role in a similar industry is desirable.
