Job Description

An Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring that a company's financial records are accurate, up-to-date, and in compliance with various regulations. Their responsibilities are fundamental to the financial health of an organization, influencing strategic planning and decision-making processes. Accountants primarily deal with recording financial transactions, preparing financial reports, and analyzing financial data to support business operations. They are also responsible for ensuring that tax obligations are met. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid foundation in financial regulations and accounting principles. The position may involve working independently or as part of a finance team, often requiring collaboration with other departments within the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and examine financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Manage the general ledger and ensure completeness of financial data entry.
  • Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, and financial commitments.
  • Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems.
  • Prepare forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel.
  • Assess financial operations and suggest improvements and cost savings measures.
  • Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment deadlines.
  • Provide technical support and advice on financial matters to other departments.
  • Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and legislation, like Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Assist in budget preparation and monitor expenditures and revenues.
  • Collaborate with auditors to ensure that audits are conducted timely and accurately.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of three years of proven experience in an accounting role.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credentials are highly preferred.
