Job Description

The Transportation and Fleet Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of a company's transportation and fleet activities. Responsible for overseeing the scheduling, maintenance, and operation of vehicles, they ensure timely deliveries, maximize cost-efficiency, and maintain safety standards. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership qualities to effectively manage teams, develop transportation strategies, and coordinate with other departments. The ideal candidate should have excellent problem-solving skills, be able to handle multiple tasks with attention to detail, and possess a knack for optimizing logistical processes. They will be tasked with implementing policies, enhancing service levels, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the company's fleet and transportation activities.
  • Develop and implement efficient strategies for scheduling and routing fleet vehicles.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
  • Manage the transportation budget and optimize cost-efficiency wherever possible.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless operational integration.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle service, maintenance, and operational costs.
  • Implement safety protocols and ensure all drivers are properly trained and certified.
  • Analyze transportation data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Lead and motivate the transportation team to achieve departmental goals.
  • Oversee the acquisition and disposal of fleet vehicles as needed.
  • Manage vendor and service provider relationships to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Respond promptly to customer and internal inquiries and resolve transportation-related issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in fleet management or transportation services.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in fleet management software and analytical tools.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Proven experience in budget management and strategic planning.
