Schneider Electric is a global leader in energy management and automation, and we are seeking a Service Delivery Manager to lead the delivery of services within our operations.
The Service Delivery Manager (SDM) is responsible for overseeing service contracts and service project delivery within designated areas while actively contributing to customer retention, service growth, and commercial performance for customers across a range of sectors, including mining, oil and gas, transportation, and water and wastewater. The role ensures the safe, high‑quality, and profitable delivery of managed services, maintenance contracts, modernisation & migration projects, and small works, with strong commercial governance and customer engagement, and reports to the National Services Manager – Industry.
Essential Background
A solid technical foundation in industrial automation is preferred, including experience with Schneider Electric or Equivalent systems, platforms, and architectures such as PLCs, SCADA, telemetry, safety systems, and DCS.
Beyond technical expertise, the ideal person must bring strong commercial, business development, and sales capability, with confidence engaging customers commercially. They must understand customer value drivers, identify service growth opportunities, craft compelling service offers, and articulate value propositions that align with customer needs
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end delivery of service contracts and service projects, ensuring outcomes meet contractual, quality, schedule, cost, safety, and agreed commercial performance requirements.
- Manage service delivery activities including planning, scope, risk, change, cost control, and stakeholder communication in line with Schneider Electric standards, ensuring commercial discipline is maintained across all engagements.
- Deliver managed services and maintenance contracts across multiple customers, ensuring Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met and exceeded, while identifying opportunities to enhance service value and customer outcomes.
- Build strong customer relationships, manage expectations, and engage customers at both operational and commercial levels as a professional representative of Schneider Electric.
- Contribute to the development of compelling service offerings and value propositions that align with customer needs and support long‑term service lifecycle engagement.
- Achieve service revenue, profit, and cost targets, actively contributing to service growth and provide leadership in services bids, tenders, pricing, proposals, and contract reviews.
- Maintain technical awareness of industrial automation and service technologies to support effective delivery, informed customer discussions, and identification of service enhancement opportunities, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide functional oversight, coaching, and support to service engineering resources to ensure effective utilisation, capability uplift, and readiness to support evolving customer and business needs.
Requirements
You are a structured, customer‑focused professional with strong commercial awareness and a strong, relevant background delivering services or projects in complex industrial environments, with the capability to balance operational delivery excellence with service growth objectives.
You will bring:
- Typically, 5+ years’ experience in the delivery of Industrial Automation systems within complex industrial environments.
- Around 2+ years’ experience managing small to medium service or project engagements.
- Working knowledge of Industrial Automation systems.
- Proficiency with project and business tools such as MS Excel, MS Project, SAP, JIRA, or similar systems.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Ability to handle challenging customer situations professionally.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- A curious mindset, asking questions, challenging assumptions, and seeking to understand both customer environments and internal processes to drive better outcomes.
A tertiary qualification in Engineering or equivalent is preferred, along with eligibility for membership of Engineers Australia and/or the Project Management Institute.
