The West Region Delivery Team (WRDT) is delivering one of Sydney Water’s most significant infrastructure programs, with a circa $2bn pipeline of works over 10 years.
About The Opportunity
In this newly created role the Resource Planner will design, build, maintain and continuously improve program-wide resource planning models, tools and reporting.
Responsibilities
The role covers workforce utilisation across current projects and planning for future work. You will work directly with project controls and delivery leaders to actively manage resource plans providing a single source of truth to support effective decision-making across the program. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
Developing, maintaining and updating program wide resource plans using P6, Excel and/or other best-practice planning tools.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to align resource plans with program schedules and delivery priorities.
Analyse current workforce utilisation across live projects to identify constraints, inefficiencies and optimisation opportunities.
Plan and model resource requirements for future work, including supply and demand forecasting and scenario analysis.
Monitor and adjust resource plans in response to scope changes, client priorities and workforce availability.
Produce clear reports, visualisations and recommendations to support effective project delivery and decision-making.
Support the ongoing improvement of consistent, program-wide resource planning approaches and tools.
What You’ll Bring To The Team
This role would suit someone who can think strategically about planning at a program level and is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves to build, maintain and operate the tools day to day. The ideal candidate will also have:
Experience in resource planning, utilisation analysis, scheduling or program controls with experience within complex construction, infrastructure or major project environments.
Strong capability in analysing complex data and translating it into practical, decision-ready insights.
Advanced Excel skills, with experience using P6, Power BI or MS Project.
Confident working with changing priorities, incomplete data and ambiguity, using sound judgement to make practical decisions.
Proven ability to engage, consult and influence a wide range of internal stakeholders.
Why join WRDT
Work on one of Sydney Water’s largest and most complex infrastructure programs.
Take ownership of resource planning in a large, complex delivery environment.
Influence real delivery decisions through data-driven insight and planning.
Be part of a collaborative, delivery-focused program team.
