Job Description

The Planning and Governance Consultant is a pivotal role focused on leading the conceptualization, strategic planning, and operational blueprint of a pioneering Copper University in the Middle East, aimed at developing regional talent and advancing the copper ecosystem across minerals mining, refining, recycling, and industrial applications.  Aligning strategic objectives with organizational resources to ensure successful outcomes. This position demands a seasoned professional who can drive planning initiatives, facilitate governance processes, and steer cross-functional collaboration within the organization. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in strategic planning, project management, and risk management to help the organization achieve its long-term vision. This role is critical for the implementation of effective policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations while optimizing resources. In addition to a deep understanding of governance frameworks, the candidate must possess excellent communication and leadership skills to influence and guide senior stakeholders in making informed decisions.


Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive strategic Conceptualization & Benchmarking plans to guide organizational direction and initiatives.
  • Lead the visioning and feasibility study for the Copper University, aligning with regional industrial development goals.
  • Research and analyze global models of mining and metallurgy universities (e.g., Copper Belt Univsersity - Zambia, Colorado School of Mines, Freiberg University, IITs) to identify best practices.
  • Define the university’s mission, academic structure, and long-term growth roadmap.
  • Establish strategic partnerships with copper industry bodies, mining companies, smelters, recyclers, and OEMs.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration to achieve strategic business objectives.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for potential challenges.
  • Liaise with regional chambers of commerce, ministries, and industrial zones to secure institutional support.
  • Develop key performance indicators to measure success across governance frameworks.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to clarify organizational priorities and resource allocations.
  • Develop MOUs with global copper associations and technical institutes for knowledge exchange and faculty collaboration.
  • Curriculum & Academic Program Development in Geology, Smelting technologies
  • Infrastructure & Operational Planning

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and governance roles 
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance processes.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to facilitate effective team collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in project management software and governance frameworks.
