About The Role
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a pivotal field-based, non-promotional role that serves as a bridge between GSK and the healthcare community. This role focuses on advancing clinical practice within an assigned territory to improve patient outcomes by facilitating scientific exchange and serving as a trusted medical resource. The MSL brings deep clinical and therapeutic expertise and market/landscape knowledge to engage with healthcare professionals (HCPs) in alignment with GSK’s strategic medical plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Leverage scientific expertise and market knowledge to identify and engage HCPs, including academic and community physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to assess educational needs and obtain insights to inform medical plans.
- Engage with HCPs on emerging data, clinical trials, medical unmet needs, patient barriers to access, and market dynamics; provide disease-state and product-related scientific education in a non-promotional manner.
- Collect and communicate medical insights across the product lifecycle to contribute to medical strategy and understand the potential impact of these insights.
- Demonstrate strategic territory planning and management, including identification, mapping, and prioritization of scientific engagements aligned to medical strategy and key accounts.
- Support clinical research and investigator-initiated studies by facilitating relevant medical activities and collaborating with Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations colleagues.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Medical Affairs, Clinical, Commercial, Market Access) to ensure a customer-centric approach aligned with GSK Standard Operating Procedures and compliance requirements.
- Maintain and expand in-depth knowledge of assigned therapeutic areas and GSK medicines to act as a credible medical resource for external stakeholders and internal colleagues.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in full compliance with GSK’s Code of Conduct, global policies, SOPs, and local regulations; uphold principles of transparency, integrity, respect, and patient focus.
- Complete required administrative documentation, training, and reporting in a timely manner.
- Participate in field medical initiatives and cross-functional projects to support medical strategies and tactics.
Basic Qualifications And Skills (required)
- MD, PharmD, PhD, or other relevant life sciences degree, or equivalent experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to tailor complex scientific information to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex science into clear, concise messages.
- Solid grounding in clinical, medical, and pharmaceutical sciences with the ability to rapidly assimilate topic-specific knowledge.
- Understanding of clinical development and basic statistical design and analysis.
- Effective networking and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to influence cross-functionally.
- Curiosity and commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Fluent in English (verbal and written). Additional local language proficiency may be required depending on location.
- Availability and willingness to travel as required for the role.
Preferred Qualifications And Skills
- Approximately 3+ years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a similar environment, with experience engaging in scientific exchange with external experts.
- Prior experience in Pharmaceutical Medical Affairs or clinical research is an advantage.
