As a Communications Intern, you support the Marketing team with hands-on communications and marketing work across our service territory while gaining real-world experience in a cooperative environment.

Pay Rate and PTO: This position offers a wage of $22.00 per hour. You will earn 1 hour of PTO for every 30 hours worked.

A Day in the Life
In this role, you help bring East Central Energy’s story to life. Your days blend time at your workstation with hands-on opportunities in the field, supporting photography, videography, and community events. You work closely with the Marketing team to capture real moments, organize content, and support projects that connect members, employees, and communities across our service territory.
Communications and Marketing Support: You assist with day-to-day communications and marketing activities, including content support and general project needs.
Photography and Videography: You help photograph and film field work, staff activities, and member or community events while following ECE’s brand and storytelling standards.
Event Support: You prepare for community events by organizing materials and supplies and assist with post-event wrap-up.
Media Asset Management: You help develop and maintain an organized photo and video archive by labeling, storing, and organizing media so it’s easy to access for future use.
What You’ll Need
Education: High school diploma or GED and enrollment or recent graduate in a certificate, diploma, associate, bachelor’s, or master’s degree program in communications, marketing, or a related field.
Credentials: Valid driver’s license.
Skills: Strong photo and video production skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively. Familiarity with social media marketing, event planning, and project management are helpful. Comfort using Microsoft 365 and other standard business software.
Additional Details
Schedule: Onsite, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., based at the Braham, MN Headquarters building. Travel is required throughout ECE’s service territory for events and field activities. This position will be approximately 1,000 hours.
Hybrid Option: This position does not offer a hybrid work arrangement.
