To deliver high-quality teaching in Business Studies and Economics following the British Curriculum (e.g., GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level), fostering students’ analytical, critical thinking, and real-world application skills. The teacher will inspire students to understand economic principles and business practices in a global context.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in Business Studies and Economics aligned with the British Curriculum.
Teach across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 (IGCSE/GCSE and A-Level, as applicable).
Use a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
Integrate real-world case studies and current economic/business developments into lessons.
Prepare students for external examinations with a strong focus on academic achievement.
Assessment & Reporting
Design and administer formative and summative assessments in line with curriculum standards.
Monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
Prepare reports and participate in parent-teacher conferences.
Curriculum Development
Contribute to the development and review of schemes of work and teaching materials.
Stay updated with curriculum changes and best practices in teaching Business and Economics.
Classroom Management
Create a positive, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment.
Encourage student participation, independent thinking, and collaboration.
Manage classroom behavior in accordance with school policies.
Professional Development
Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
Engage in peer observations and performance reviews.
Contribute to departmental meetings and whole-school initiatives.
Wider School Contribution
Support extracurricular activities such as business clubs, enterprise competitions, or economics societies.
Participate in school events, trips, and enrichment programs.
Uphold the school’s values, policies, and safeguarding responsibilities
Skills
Experience teaching British Curriculum (IGCSE/GCSE and A-Level).
Strong subject knowledge in Business Studies and Economics.
Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
Analytical and critical thinking expertise.
Adaptability and collaborative mindset.
Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in teaching.
Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent).
