Job Description

A Barista is a key player in delivering an outstanding coffee shop experience. This role involves crafting specialty coffee and tea beverages, managing the cash register, and maintaining a clean and inviting environment. A barista must be adept at balancing customer service skills with the art of making a perfect coffee. In addition to preparing drinks, baristas play a vital role in customer engagement, ensuring a friendly and efficient service experience. It's essential for a barista to possess a keen attention to detail, great communication skills, and a passion for coffee making. This position often requires working flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, and weekends, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities

  • Greet customers as they enter the coffee shop and create a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages effectively and efficiently.
  • Operate and maintain coffee-making equipment, ensuring they function optimally at all times.
  • Take customer orders accurately and process transactions using a point-of-sale system.
  • Engage with customers, providing product knowledge and personalized service recommendations.
  • Ensure the coffee shop is clean, organized, and well-stocked throughout the working day.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure food and beverage safety standards are met.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including inventory checks and financial reconciliations.
  • Coordinate with team members to ensure smooth operation during peak hours and busy shifts.
  • Handle customer complaints and feedback professionally, resolving issues to satisfaction.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of seasonal menus and specialty coffee offerings.
  • Support team training and assist new hires in understanding job roles and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a barista or in a similar customer service role preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of coffee and tea preparation methods and equipment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays as required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse customers.
  • Attention to detail with high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude and passion for delivering exceptional coffee experiences.
