Job Description

Position Responsibility:

  • Defines patient hearing impairment and balance disorder by conferring with referring physician, selecting and administering electrophysiological and other relevant tests, operating diagnostic equipment, determining type and degree of hearing impairment and effects on comprehension and speech, interpreting audiometric diagnostic data, and preparing written diagnostic reports.
  • Provides evaluation, fitting, and verification of amplification devices, including assistive listening devices. Determines the appropriateness of amplification systems for persons with hearing impairment, evaluates benefits, and provides counselling and training regarding their use.
  • Acts as a member of the implant team (e.g. cochlear implants, middle ear implantable hearing aids, fully implantable hearing aids, bone anchored hearing aids, and all other amplification/signal processing devices) and determines audiologic candidacy based on hearing and communication information.
  • Provides pre and post-surgical assessment, counselling, and all aspects of audio logic treatment including auditory training, rehabilitation, implant programming, and maintenance of implant hardware and software.
  • Monitors lntraoperative Neurophysiologic. Administers and interprets electrophysiologic measurements of neural function including, but not limited to, sensory and motor evoked potentials, tests of nerve conduction velocity, and electromyography. These measurements are used in differential diagnosis, pre-and postoperative evaluation of neural function, and neurophysiologic intraoperative monitoring of central nervous system, spinal cord, and cranial nerve function.
  • Maintains patient records by recording and updating evaluations, changes, progress and treatments.
  • Improves quality results by studying, evaluating and re-designing processes, implementing changes, participating in research programs, and evaluating new equipment, devices and techniques.
  • Provides auditory evaluations and education by measuring and studying noise conditions, and conducting hearing protection and hearing loss screening programs.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt.
  • Maintains legal and accreditation compliance by adhering to federal, state and local regulations and professional standards.
  • Updates job knowledge by tracking trends in new techniques and approaches, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.


Position Qualification:

Bachelor’s Degree in Audiology/Speech and Hearing/Direct Entry Master’s Degree in Audiology


PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as Audiologist
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
