Job Summary

Queen of All Saints Catholic School is seeking a passionate, faith-filled, and student-centered teacher to serve as a 6th–8th Grade English Language Arts and Religion Teacher. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in both English Language Arts and Religion within a dynamic, Christ-centered learning environment.

Job Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based English Language Arts instruction, including reading comprehension, writing (narrative, informational, and persuasive), grammar, vocabulary, and communication skills.
  • Design and implement developmentally appropriate Religion curriculum aligned with diocesan standards, including Scripture, Catholic doctrine, sacraments, moral theology, prayer, and Catholic social teaching.
  • Integrate faith across the curriculum, emphasizing Gospel values and Catholic identity in both ELA and Religion instruction.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, texts, and technology to engage diverse learners.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the varied academic and developmental needs of middle school students.

Student Learning & Development

  • Foster critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication skills.
  • Encourage a lifelong love of reading, writing, and learning.
  • Support students’ academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development.
  • Promote responsibility, organization, independence, and ethical decision-making.

Faith Formation & Integration

  • Cultivate a classroom environment rooted in Catholic values, respect, and dignity of all persons.
  • Lead daily prayer and provide opportunities for student participation in liturgy, retreats, and service.
  • Serve as a role model of Christian living and discipleship.
  • Collaborate with clergy, administration, and faculty on faith-based initiatives and sacramental preparation.
  • Ensure all instruction aligns with the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Assessment & Progress Monitoring

  • Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student progress in both ELA and Religion.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments, writing, and projects.
  • Use data to inform instruction and provide targeted support or enrichment.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of grades and student progress.

Classroom Environment & Management

  • Establish a structured, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Implement clear expectations, routines, and consistent behavior management practices.
  • Foster a positive classroom culture that promotes collaboration, discussion, and mutual respect.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians regarding academic progress and faith development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and parish staff to support student success and the mission of the school.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, liturgies, and school events.

Community & School Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Actively participate in school activities, events, and student life.
  • Support and uphold the mission, philosophy, and values of Catholic education and Queen of All Saints Catholic School.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Theology, Religious Studies, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification (or ability to obtain) for middle school grades.
  • Religion certification or catechetical formation (or willingness to obtain).
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing, committed to modeling the faith.
  • Strong knowledge of literacy instruction, including reading development, writing instruction, and grammar.
  • Strong understanding of Catholic doctrine, Scripture, and Church teachings.
  • Experience teaching middle school ELA and/or Religion preferred.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology to enhance instruction.
  • Commitment to creating a positive, inclusive, and faith-centered classroom environment.
