Job Description
Job Summary
The Logistics Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all logistics activities associated with large-scale infrastructure projects to ensure the timely availability of materials, equipment, workforce access, temporary facilities, and construction resources. The role oversees logistics planning from project mobilization through construction, testing & commissioning, handover, and project close-out while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations, surrounding communities, and existing infrastructure.
The Logistics Manager works closely with the Project Director, Resident Engineers, Planning Manager, Contractors, Utility Authorities, Government Agencies, Suppliers, and Stakeholders to develop and implement integrated logistics strategies that support safe, efficient, and uninterrupted project delivery.
Key Job Duties
- Logistics Planning & Management
- Develop and implement the project Logistics Management Plan.
- Plan and coordinate site access, material deliveries, equipment movements, storage areas, and temporary facilities.
- Ensure logistics activities align with the approved construction programme.
- Optimize logistics operations to improve project efficiency and minimize disruptions.
- Material & Equipment Coordination
- Coordinate the timely delivery and distribution of construction materials, equipment, and plant.
- Monitor logistics schedules to support uninterrupted construction activities.
- Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and procurement teams to resolve delivery constraints.
- Monitor storage conditions and material handling practices.
- Site Access & Traffic Management
- Manage construction access routes, temporary roads, and haul routes.
- Coordinate traffic management plans and construction access permits with relevant authorities.
- Ensure safe movement of construction vehicles, personnel, and equipment within the project.
- Monitor compliance with approved traffic and logistics plans.
- Stakeholder & Authority Coordination
- Liaise with Clients, Contractors, Utility Authorities, Municipalities, Police, and other government agencies regarding logistics activities.
- Coordinate road closures, utility shutdowns, permits, and access approvals.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings related to logistics and construction interfaces.
- Risk, Safety & Environmental Management
- Identify logistics-related risks and develop mitigation measures.
- Ensure logistics operations comply with HSE requirements and environmental regulations.
- Monitor safe loading, unloading, lifting, and transportation practices.
- Support emergency response planning related to logistics operations.
- Reporting & Team Management
- Prepare logistics schedules, progress reports, risk registers, and KPI reports.
- Monitor logistics performance and recommend continuous improvements.
- Lead and coordinate the logistics team and support project management with timely updates.
- Maintain accurate logistics records and documentation.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in logistics management for major infrastructure or construction projects.
- Proven experience managing logistics for roads, utilities, public realm, transportation, and urban development projects.
- Strong experience coordinating with government authorities, utility providers, contractors, and suppliers.
- Experience working on large multidisciplinary infrastructure projects within the UAE is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of construction logistics planning, supply chain management, traffic management, and site operations.
- Good understanding of project scheduling using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics/project management software.
- Familiarity with authority permitting processes and construction HSE requirements.
