Financial Crime Compliance aligns current activities within Global Risk and helps to build these into a more integrated framework, which enables HSBC to manage financial crime risk more effectively. It builds stronger controls to improve the way Financial Crime Compliance risks are managed to spot gaps as well as trends so that the team can act. It proactively gathers and analyses financial intelligence in a smart way so that suspicious transactions, activities or connections can be identified, and we can adequately protect our customers from the threat of financial crime.

We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our Financial Crime Compliance team, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

Role Purpose

The jobholder will directly report to the UAE MLRO and assist in the management of the end-to-end internal and external Production Order / Law Enforcement and regulatory requests, from the Central Bank of UAE (CBUAE), Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA), UAE Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), and Law Enforcement Authorities (LEAs), for all Onshore HSBC operations in the UAE. The jobholder is also responsible in managing regulatory correspondences with the CBUAE, UAE FIU, SCA, LEA on Production Order enquiries, including Search & Freeze / Seach / ECDD / Request for Information (RFI) Notices. The AML Engagement Manager will also assist in the generation of country / regional MI for the consumption of various stakeholders within country and regional senior management or governance committees. The jobholder will also support the team’s compliance with the Records Management and Document Retention Policy.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end process of Production Order Management process in the UAE, and ensuring that the PO enquires are timely actioned and responded to back to the authorities in accordance with regulatory requirements and current legislation. Ensure that the internal procedure and external SLA are adhered to, in fulfilments of all requests to the authorities in a timely manner as set out in procedures.
  • Manage the UAE FIU / CBUAE PO enquiry Portals.
  • Manage the MLRO and UAE AML Compliance central mailbox that receives referrals and escalations from external and internal stakeholders, in relation to Production Order
  • Lead and manage risk management ad-hoc AML projects at the direction of the Head of UAE Financial Crime.
  • Responsible for overseeing the relationship management with the Authorities and supporting in a Leading role. Brief internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and law enforcement.
  • Generate accurate and timely risk and operational metrics (consistent to global metrics) for the programme to inform senior management of AML current and emerging risks.
  • Support the management of the Country AML Plan, in conjunction with the UAE Head of AML / MLRO Provide ongoing analysis of the Country AML MI to provide a strategic appraisal of emerging issues and recommendations.
  • Ensure local issues are escalated to Country AML and within the country, managed to closure.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, Finance & Accounting or Engineering or any related disciplines is required.
  • The jobholder must have at least 3 years’ experience in AML and Sanction Compliance roles.
  • Experience of the full range of personal and commercial banking services and have a strong subject matter expertise in the area of Anti-Money laundering including regulatory environment and regional regulations.
  • The ability to multi-task across many fields involving potentially complex projects and multiple teams
  • Experience of people management is required.
  • Proven communication and influencing skills with the ability to communicate and in writing at all levels
  • An excellent command in English
  • Proven user of Micrsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Excel
