We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and dynamic Nursing Unit Head – Delivery/Labour Room to lead our maternity nursing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Delivery/Labour Room, ensuring the provision of safe, high-quality, evidence-based, and patient-centered care for mothers and newborns.
Responsibilities
Lead and supervise the daily operations of the Delivery/Labour Room to ensure the provision of safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
Provide clinical leadership, guidance, and support to nursing staff, promoting professional development and evidence-based practice.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention and control standards, patient safety initiatives, and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate and oversee the care of women during labour, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period, ensuring optimal maternal and neonatal outcomes.
Monitor staffing levels, prepare duty rosters, and allocate resources to ensure appropriate coverage and efficient workflow.
Collaborate with obstetricians, neonatologists, anaesthetists, midwives/nurses, and other multidisciplinary team members to ensure seamless patient care.
Oversee patient admission, transfer, discharge, and emergency response processes within the unit.
Monitor clinical documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with legal and professional standards.
Lead quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, incident reporting, and risk management activities to enhance patient safety and service quality.
Ensure the availability, proper maintenance, and safe use of medical equipment, medications, and supplies.
Participate in recruitment, orientation, competency assessments, performance evaluations, and ongoing education of nursing staff.
Promote patient and family education, ensuring respectful, compassionate, and culturally sensitive care.
Maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare operational reports as required by nursing leadership.
Participate in hospital committees, accreditation activities, emergency preparedness, and continuous quality improvement programs.
Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and excellence in patient care.
Qualifications
Nursing Degree (preferably MSc)
Valid nursing license
Minimum 10 yrs experience in clinical care and Managerial roles within Nursing Administration
