We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Charge Nurse to join the Medical-Surgical Ward team. This role is integral in providing high-quality patient care, managing clinical staff, and ensuring a safe, supportive, and efficient environment for patients, families, and colleagues. The Charge Nurse will lead by example, uphold best practices, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership:
Provide direct patient care and maintain the highest standards of clinical nursing based on evidence-based practices.
Monitor and guide clinical staff, offering support, supervision, and mentorship as needed.
Assign and coordinate staffing to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery.
Identify and report accidents, incidents, or safety concerns to the Unit Manager and Quality Division.
Quality & Safety
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, fire safety protocols, and infection control procedures.
Actively participate in quality initiatives, data collection, and patient care improvement projects.
Support Shared Governance Councils to implement best practice initiatives for positive patient outcomes.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain thorough and accurate patient care records in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
Monitor and audit documentation to ensure high standards are upheld.
Education & Development
Participate in departmental orientation, mandatory training, and continuing nursing education (CNE) to maintain a high level of competency.
Offer guidance and feedback to junior staff, fostering a supportive learning environment within the ward.
Commit to personal and professional development to enhance clinical and leadership skills.
Qualifications
Education & Certification:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Experience
Minimum of 6 years of relevant clinical experience, with team leading exposure.
Skills & Competencies
Strong communication skills, with proficiency in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
Proven ability to manage and supervise a diverse team within a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
Skilled in clinical tasks such as medication administration, venipuncture, tracheostomy care, and PEG feeding.
Demonstrates a positive, solution-focused attitude and the ability to effect positive change.
Competent in using medical equipment relevant to the Medical-Surgical Ward.
