We are seeking a highly skilled Workshop Mechanic to join our team at the new facility in the KEZAD Free Zone, Abu Dhabi. This role is dedicated to recommending and implementing repairs for a wide variety of industrial and rotating equipment, including but not limited to compressors and turbines.
As a senior technical member of the workshop, you will have the authority to plan and oversee complex repairs with limited supervision. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of the equipment—from inspection and disassembly to final alignment and reassembly—while serving as a mentor to help train other employees in the departments specific functions and processes.
Job Responsibilities
The Workshop Mechanic is responsible for maintaining the mechanical integrity of rotating equipment through high-precision workmanship and adherence to strict safety standards.
Mechanical Execution & Overhaul
Comprehensive Maintenance: Document, erect, alter, install, align, repair, replace, disassemble, reassemble, move, and inspect most rotating equipment.
Component Mastery: Alter and overhaul rotors, turbines, disc and blade holders, shafts, sleeves, gears, couplings, and all other forms of equipment necessary to complete the job.
Setup & Tooling: Set up all equipment needed to complete jobs; use appropriate equipment, tooling, and specifications to perform primary functions.
Precision Measurement: Demonstrate advanced knowledge and accuracy in using micrometers, indicators, calipers, gauges, and other required tools.
Critical Clearances: Accurately measure and record all critical clearances and dimensions on turbines, compressors, and associated machinery.
Quality, Safety & Documentation
Technical Interpretation: Read and comprehend engineering drawings, sketches, work scopes, and verbal instructions.
Records Management: Understand and process documentation such as inspection reports, photo logs, and hold tags.
Testing: Maintain proficiency to successfully pass the annual dimensional inspection test.
Workplace Standards: Promote safety and quality at all times, maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Shift Continuity: Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Operations & Leadership
Lifting & Rigging: Apply advanced knowledge of lifting, rigging, crane, and forklift operations.
Teamwork & Mentorship: Work effectively in a team environment and help train other hourly employees in repair processes and procedures.
Professional Conduct: Conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times when working with internal and external customers.
Ownership: Accept ownership over work performance, stay abreast of job knowledge, and pursue new skill development.
Qualifications And Skills
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency.
Experience: 5–8 years of experience specifically with rotating turbo machinery (including turbines, compressors, and other rotating equipment).
Technical Capabilities: * Advanced rigging and lifting capabilities.
Advanced precision measuring capabilities.
Proven ability to plan and oversee repairs with limited supervision.
Personal Attributes: * Strong ability to work in a team environment.
Dedicated to completing work in a safe and timely manner to meet customer needs.
Proactive approach to professional development and organizational goals.
Base Location & Work Schedule
This is a full time, on-site permanent position based out of our Repair Facility in KEZAD Free Zone, Abu Dhabi.
