Job Description

The Warehouse Assistant is a vital part of a company's supply chain management, responsible for various tasks essential to efficiently operate the site. The role involves inventory management, stock organization, and ensuring accurate dispatch of shipments. A Warehouse Assistant must have the ability to adapt in a dynamic environment while maintaining a keen attention to detail. This role requires someone with a strong sense of initiative and the ability to work well independently, as well as part of a team. A successful Warehouse Assistant should possess good physical stamina, excellent communication skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting. Problem-solving skills and the ability to provide input on process improvements are also valuable.


Responsibilities

  • Receive and process incoming stock and materials for daily operations.
  • Pick, pack, and prepare orders accurately for delivery or collection.
  • Perform inventory controls and maintain high-quality standards for audits.
  • Coordinate with logistics for smooth dispatch and receipt of goods.
  • Organize and manage the layout of the warehouse for optimum efficiency.
  • Ensure high safety standards within the warehouse environment at all times.
  • Operate machinery and equipment safely, adhering to operational guidelines.
  • Communicate and report any operational issues promptly to supervisors.
  • Help maintain a tidy, clean, and organized warehouse space regularly.
  • Assist in the training and development of junior staff or new hires.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to improve operations.
  • Track the progress of shipments and ensure timely delivery to customers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with relevant work experience preferred.
  • Proven experience in a warehouse environment is an added advantage.
  • Ability to operate forklifts or willingness to undergo training is necessary.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are required for success.
  • Capable of lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic math and computer skills for inventory tracking and order processing.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
