A Snapshot of your day
Your day involves assessing the dynamic behavior and vibration performance of turbine-generator systems, diagnosing complex vibration issues, and implementing corrective actions to ensure safe and reliable equipment operation. You will support troubleshooting, maintenance, and performance optimization activities across gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and other critical rotating equipment within power generation facilities.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Lead vibration diagnostics and troubleshooting for turbine-generator systems, identifying root causes such as imbalance, misalignment, resonance, looseness, and bearing-related issues.
- Perform advanced vibration analysis using diagnostic techniques including FFT, time waveform, orbit, and spectral analysis to improve equipment reliability and performance.
- Support commissioning, startup, and acceptance testing by assessing vibration performance and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and industry standards.
- Conduct continuous condition monitoring, trend analysis, and predictive diagnostics to detect early signs of mechanical degradation and support proactive maintenance planning.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, provide engineering recommendations, and collaborate with customers, site teams, and engineering functions to resolve critical machine issues.
- Perform onsite and remote vibration measurements using specialized diagnostic tools, monitoring systems, and historical operational data to evaluate equipment condition and optimize asset performance.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in vibration analysis, condition monitoring, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of rotating equipment within power generation or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong expertise in turbine-generator vibration diagnostics, including FFT analysis, time waveform analysis, orbit analysis, spectral analysis, rotor balancing, and root cause analysis.
- Hands-on experience with gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, compressors, pumps, and associated vibration monitoring and protection systems during operation, maintenance, commissioning, and performance testing.
- Proven ability to interpret vibration data, prepare technical reports, provide engineering recommendations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve equipment reliability and support predictive maintenance programs.
