Veterinary Laboratory Consultant

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Laboratory Consultant to oversee and support veterinary laboratory operations at our wildlife conservation and breeding facilities in the UAE.

The role focuses on supervising laboratory activities, ensuring accurate diagnostic analyses, improving laboratory procedures, and developing new analytical methods in response to operational needs.

The position involves close coordination with veterinary and other relevant departments, with potential assignments to other Reneco laboratories internationally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate veterinary laboratory activities, ensuring the effective implementation of established procedures.
• Review, standardize, and continuously improve laboratory protocols and analytical methods.
• Develop and implement new laboratory analyses according to operational and diagnostic requirements.
• Provide technical guidance, supervision, and training to laboratory personnel.
• Ensure the accuracy of laboratory results, oversee data analysis, and prepare technical reports.
• Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure effective communication and timely laboratory support.
• Oversee laboratory equipment calibration, maintenance, and proper functioning.
• Ensure compliance with good laboratory practices while managing laboratory staff, budgets, and stock.

Requirements:

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree and a Master's degree in a related discipline.
• Relevant professional experience in veterinary laboratory operations, particularly microbiology, pathology, and cytology.
• Practical experience in microbiology, serology, avian hematology, cytology, coprology, PCR, and histopathology.
• Previous involvement in veterinary or laboratory-related research projects.
• Ability to supervise laboratory personnel and manage laboratory budgets, resources, and stock.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently, follow protocols, and propose improvements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and database tools such as Access; knowledge of R is an advantage.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of French and/or Arabic is an advantage.
