WSP is seeking a qualified and experienced Utility Inspector to support construction supervision on a major road infrastructure project in Abu Dhabi. The Utility Inspector will be responsible for ensuring that all utility works—both underground and above ground—are executed in compliance with project specifications, local authority regulations, and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and inspect installation of utilities including potable water, stormwater, sewer, electrical, telecom, irrigation, and gas networks.
- Ensure compliance with ADM, ADDC, Etisalat, DU, Transco, and other local utility authority standards and permits.
- Review method statements, utility shop drawings, and material submittals for compliance with project specifications and authority requirements.
- Supervise trenching, pipe laying, duct installation, backfilling, and reinstatement works to ensure proper sequence and quality.
- Coordinate with utility agencies, the main contractor, subcontractors, and WSP’s multidisciplinary team.
- Report any non-conformances and assist in issuing site observations or NCRs as needed.
- Ensure accurate as-built data is maintained and verified during the handover process.
- Participate in testing, commissioning, and utility interface activities.
- Attend regular site coordination and progress meetings.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in utility inspection within road/highway infrastructure projects in the UAE or GCC.
- Prior experience on projects supervised by WSP or similar international consultants is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of UAE authority requirements (ADM, ADDC, Etisalat, etc.).
- Familiarity with construction safety practices and QA/QC procedures.
- Proficient in reading engineering drawings and specifications.
- Good communication skills in English (Arabic is a plus).
