Job Description

The Used Car Purchaser will be responsible for acquiring quality pre-owned vehicles that meet the specifications and standards set by our dealership. This role involves evaluating used cars based on condition, market trends, and customer demand, as well as negotiating purchase terms with private sellers, dealerships, and auction houses. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of the automotive market to ensure profitable acquisitions. We are seeking someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, can build strong relationships with sellers, and has a keen eye for detail. Your role is crucial in maintaining the inventory levels that meet the needs of our diverse customer base while ensuring that all acquisitions align with our company's quality standards and financial goals.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of pre-owned vehicles to ascertain condition and value.
  • Negotiate fair and profitable purchase terms with private sellers and dealerships.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with various vehicle suppliers and sellers.
  • Manage and update inventory databases to reflect current vehicle acquisitions.
  • Coordinate with the sales team to align inventory with customer needs and demand.
  • Attend auctions and wholesale buying events to purchase vehicles as required.
  • Ensure all acquired vehicles meet company standards for quality and safety.
  • Compile and present detailed reports on purchase activities and market insights.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure cost-effective buying strategies.
  • Provide expert advice on vehicle purchasing decisions to senior management.
  • Stay updated on automotive industry developments and economic factors affecting pricing.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years' experience in automotive sales or purchasing roles.
  • Strong understanding of automotive market trends and valuation techniques.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills are essential for this role.
  • Proven ability to evaluate vehicle condition and assess mechanical components.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management and dealership software systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple purchase transactions simultaneously.
