Job Description

As a Used Car Purchaser, you will play a critical role in acquiring quality pre-owned vehicles for our dealership's inventory. Your expertise in assessing the value and condition of used cars will be essential in ensuring we maintain a well-rounded selection of vehicles that meet our customers' needs and budget. You will be responsible for evaluating cars from various sources, including auctions, trade-ins, and private sellers, to make informed purchasing decisions. Your keen eye for detail, strong negotiation skills, and understanding of market trends will help drive the success of our sales operations. Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the condition and value of used vehicles using industry-standard methods.
  • Research and analyze market trends to determine competitive pricing and demand.
  • Negotiate purchase agreements with sellers to secure the best possible prices.
  • Attend vehicle auctions to bid and purchase desired inventory for the dealership.
  • Collaborate with sales and management teams to align purchasing decisions with sales strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchase transactions and inventory levels.
  • Build and maintain relationships with auction houses, dealers, and individual sellers.
  • Inspect vehicles for any undisclosed mechanical or cosmetic issues.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize vehicle inventory turnover.
  • Continuously update knowledge on automotive market conditions and new market developments.
  • Provide reports on vehicle purchase activities and inventory status to management.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and financial regulations during the purchasing process.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in the automotive industry, particularly in used car purchasing.
  • Strong knowledge of automobile makes, models, features, and market values.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills to deal with sellers and internal teams.
  • Ability to assess the mechanical condition of vehicles accurately.
  • Proficiency in using technology for research, data analysis, and record-keeping.
  • Highly organized with an ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to auctions and dealerships.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
