Position Summary:

Turbofan Turbine Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the stress & dynamic/thermomechanical analysis of the turbofan turbines and other structures within the turbofan development programs. This role requires expert knowledge in mechanical design, integrity, gas turbine propulsion, turbine LPT/HPT.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and capitalize methodologies to design and validate HPT/LPT modules. Support the development of methodologies and chain of software, including automated computational analysis/reports.
  • Design and optimize the turbofan components, modules and sub-systems for life, weight, manufacturability and cost.
  • Carry out thermo-mechanical and dynamic simulations at design, off-design and far off-design conditions to ensure safety and operability. Carry out creep, LCF/HCF and fracture assessments
  • Carry out FMECA (Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis) to support the safety and operability assessments
  • Support the management of knowledge
  • Review the designs, simulations and generate testing guidelines. Support test analysis and correlations.
  • Verify design approach and results from suppliers or partners
  • Work closely with Test Team, product Managers and Systems Engineers
  • Identify project risks and plan for mitigation

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering degree or a related field.
  • Strong background in gas turbine propulsion, mechanical design, integrity and/or heat transfer.
  • Experience in whole engine structural analysis, clearance assessments is a plus.
  • Experience in compressor and turbine modules
  • Fluent in English ; 8+ years or more for senior roles

Skills:

  • Proficient in one of design packages such as Solidworks, Siemens NX or similar
  • Experience in FEA using Ansys, Nastran or equivalent, or lower order simulation methods.
  • Awareness on the state-of-the-art technologies in materials and structural mechanics to link with structural analysis for gas turbine propulsion components
  • Good communication and presentation skills to interact with team members, clients, and vendors.
  • Ability to solve problems, prioritize tasks and delegate when necessary
