Job Description

Job Purpose

Lead, manage, and provide technical expertise and engineering support on matters related to integrity and

maintainability of static equipment and HVAC. Manage the development and monitor the consistent application

of standards, specifications, policies and procedures for the static equipment engineering disciplines and HVAC

system to meet the Company’s objectives.

Key Accountabilities

Technical Authority

  • Provide expert support and advice, as a technical authority, on static equipment engineering discipline

and HVAC system set standards. Monitor their application; ensure the identification of gaps and

approve standards deviations for meeting the set objectives.

  • Ensure a clear set-out of Engineering and Technical requirements to facilitate a safe and reliable

operations. Lead initiatives to improve engineering standards and optimize levels of asset integrity and

availability for promoting the Plant Operations and Projects integrity.

Engineering & Technical Support

  • Provide technical support and services in the area of static equipment engineering and HVAC system

for the Plants/Sites, Pipelines Division and Projects Divisions through RTS (Request for Technical

Services) to meet the set objectives.

  • Lead and ensure the provision of technical and engineering services in line with the scope of work,

specifications, recommendations, and designs for the safety, reliability, operability and maintainability of

facilities and systems and to support the quality of planned deliverables.

  • Lead and ensure the development of static equipment engineering and HVAC system design work

(developed by the Consultants and Contractors) for different phases of the projects (Pre-FEED, FEED

and EPC), conformity with the high quality and standards in compliance with the Company’s

specification requirements.

  • Lead and manage the relevant studies and provide technical reports to generate appropriate

recommendations and required deliverables.

Technical Studies

  • Manage technical studies (Feasibility / Pre-FEED) to provide solutions and recommendations for

upgrades, modifications and improvements to existing static equipment and HVAC systems.

  • Ensure the Consultants and Contractors deliverables and designs alignment with the scope of work and

proposed recommendations.

Design General Specifications

  • Lead and manage the update of the Company’s DGS (Design General Specifications) related to static

equipment discipline taking into account lessons learnt, current practices, latest technology and

changes in international codes and standards.

  • Ensure the effective implementation of the Company’s Design General Specifications and Standards

during the Projects execution phases in line with ADNOC guidelines and industry best practice.

Root Cause Analysis

  • Participate in Root Cause Analyses (RCA) related to static equipment and HVAC systems failure.

Ensure the timely troubleshooting of plant chronic problems. Develop a plan to overcome such

problems, recommend solutions, and liaise for the effective implementation.

  • Ensure that the repetitive failure of static equipment systems is effectively eliminated or mitigated for the

Plant asset safety, integrity, maintainability and continuous operability.

Pre-qualification of Suppliers, Manufacturers and Consultants

  • Participate in the review and endorsement of prequalification of suppliers, vendors, manufacturers,

consultants in the area of static equipment to ensure their competency for providing the required goods

and services.

Plant Change Requests (PCR)

  • Lead the review of and endorse the relevant Plant Change Requests (PCRs) to ensure the adequacy of

planned modification and compliance with the standards and codes requirements.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

  • 10 years of experience in engineering design of static equipment discipline in a large Oil and Gas

industry, including 4 years in a supervisory role.

  • In-depth knowledge of engineering principles related to static equipment and HVAC system.
  • Experience in the development and reviews of related policies, standards and procedures in the Oil and

Gas industry.

  • Strong knowledge on design and engineering of mechanical static equipment like Pressure vessels,

Columns, Reactors, Vessel Internals, Tanks, Shell and tube heat exchanger, Plate heat exchanger, Air

cooler, filters, flare systems, fired heater, boiler, waste heat boiler and HVAC system.

  • Sound knowledge of relevant international codes (ASME Section VIII Div-1 & 2, ASME) national

regulations and standards (ASTM, API, BS, NACE, TEMA, ASHRAE).

  • Knowledge about pipe stress analysis, piping layouts and materials selection.
  • Strong knowledge about mechanical and design engineering tools and software like PVelite

COMPRESS, TANK etc and review report of finite element analysis using ANSYS.

  • Extensive working knowledge in all phases of projects in (ASSESS, SELECT, DEFINE EXECUTE) and

Engineering, Procurement, Construction for Mechanical Static Equipment.

  • Background in working for organizations in EPC for the Oil and Gas Industry.
  • Good knowledge of international Codes and Standards.
  • Good knowledge of HSE principles and their application relevant to Oil & Gas industry.
