System Backup Engineer M F D

A large enterprise organization is seeking a System Backup Engineer to design, implement, and manage its backup and recovery solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, reliability, and recoverability of critical data assets across the organizations infrastructure, in alignment with business continuity requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage enterprise backup and recovery solutions across physical, virtual, and cloud workloads.
• Configure and administer backup platforms such as Veeam, Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, or equivalent.
• Monitor daily backup jobs, investigate and resolve failures, and maintain backup SLAs.
• Conduct regular recovery testing to validate data restoration capabilities and identify gaps.
• Develop and maintain backup policies, schedules, retention configurations, and data lifecycle procedures.
• Ensure backup solutions align with business continuity, disaster recovery, and compliance requirements.
• Manage backup infrastructure capacity and plan for growth aligned to organizational data volumes.
• Maintain detailed documentation of backup configurations, procedures, and recovery runbooks.
• Collaborate with storage, virtualization, and cloud teams to develop integrated data protection strategies.
  
  

Qualifications and Skills:

• 4+ years of experience in backup and recovery administration within enterprise environments.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise backup platforms such as Veeam, Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, or similar.
• Knowledge of backup strategies for physical, virtual (VMware/Hyper-V), and cloud workloads.
• Understanding of backup retention policies, deduplication, and data lifecycle management.
• Experience with recovery testing processes and BCP/DR planning.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for backup failures and complex data recovery scenarios.
• Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE), Commvault Certified Professional, or equivalent certification is advantageous.
