The Supervisor, Assembly, Maintenance & Overhaul (AMO) is responsible for overseeing the assembly, maintenance, repair, testing, and overhaul of oilfield tools and equipment to ensure operational readiness, compliance with technical standards, HSE requirements, and optimized turnaround time. The role ensures tools are fit-for-purpose, cost-effective, and available to support drilling and well operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Supervision
Supervise daily AMO workshop activities, including assembly, disassembly, maintenance, inspection, testing, and overhaul of tools and equipment.
Ensure adherence to approved maintenance procedures, OEM manuals, QA/QC standards, and ADNOC Drilling requirements.
Plan and monitor tool turnaround cycles at various PM levels (PM1–PM4), ensuring timely availability for rig mobilization.
Identify and address bottlenecks (internal/external) impacting tool readiness and deployment schedules.
Quality & Compliance
Ensure all maintenance activities are fully documented, traceable, and audit-ready.
Verify completion and availability of inspection certificates, test records, and compliance documentation.
Coordinate with QA/QC and third-party inspectors where required.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (including FANR if applicable), OEM standards, and company policies.
HSE Leadership
Enforce strict adherence to Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) standards and safe work practices in the workshop.
Conduct toolbox talks, risk assessments (JSA), and promote a strong safety culture.
Ensure good housekeeping, safe material handling, and proper storage of tools, spares, and radioactive/controlled items (if applicable).
Lead by example in reporting and closing HSE observations.
Team Leadership & Development
Supervise and guide AMO technicians, workshop assistants, and support staff.
Allocate manpower effectively to meet operational priorities and turnaround targets.
Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and competency development.
Contribute to performance evaluations and manpower planning.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management
Coordinate closely with Operations, Planning, Supply Chain, Logistics, and other OFS teams to align maintenance priorities with operational demands.
Interface with vendors, OEMs, and service providers for technical support, repairs, warranty claims, and parts availability.
Support cross-functional initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
Inventory & Cost Control
Monitor usage, condition, and availability of tools, spares, and consumables.
Highlight critical spares shortages and support timely procurement through proper planning and PO follow-up.
Support cost optimization through repair vs. replacement assessments and tool life extension initiatives.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Prepare and submit periodic reports on AMO performance, tool status, turnaround time, and key risks.
Participate in audits, management reviews, and investigations where required.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and standardization of AMO processes.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.
Minimum 7–10 years of experience in oilfield tools maintenance, AMO, or workshop operations.
Proven experience in supervising multi-skilled technical teams.
Strong knowledge of drilling, logging, BHA, MWD/LWD, surface systems, or similar oilfield equipment.
